Lory Oberst

Lory Oberst

DIRECTOR

Lory comes from a strong background of administration and management and holds a First Nations Housing Manager Certificate from Vancouver Island University and is a Certified Aboriginal Professional Administrator through the AFOA. Prior to joining FNHIC-BC she worked with for Skwah First Nation for over nine years, starting as the Housing Manager and gradually taking on more duties until becoming the Director of Operations in 2018. She is passionate about housing and community and worked with Chilliwack Healthier Communities and the Housing Task Force while at Skwah First Nation. In her spare time she is the executive secretary for the Chilliwack Flight Fest, the Chilliwack Liberal EDA, and the Imagine High PAC, is the co-captain of her local Blockwatch, and is the Sweeps Captain for the Tour de Cure. She also volunteers for Chilliwack Pride and the Imagine High Grad Fundraising Committee. She is excited to have the BC FN Housing Managers Association finally take form and looks forward to working with everyone across BC.

Beverly Smith

DEVELOPMENT ADVISOR

Beverly Smith is from Samahquam Band, which is a tribe of the St’at’imc Nation, and lives in the community of Q’aLaTKu7eM, which is one of the lower St’at’imc communities, just outside of Pemberton BC. She began her career journey in the housing field as Samahquam’s housing officer back in 1994, and has amassed over 25 years in housing and business administration experience since then. She holds a strong voice in her community and advocates for housing for community members. She enjoys sharing her knowledge and is excited to be a part of the BC First Nations Housing Managers Association. In her spare time she enjoys cooking for her family and friends, listening to country music and traveling.

Eric Blueschke

HOUSING POLICY ADVISOR

Eric has served as the Housing Policy Advisor for the Naut’sa mawt Tribal Council (NmTC) for over 12 years and is honoured to work with the BC First Nations Housing Managers Association. Prior to joining NmTC, Eric spent 18 years working as a salmon fishing guide in the traditional territory of the Homalco First Nation where he also worked in the environmental sector.
